There are several reasons for this absence of a "current affairs" section.

The main reason is that there are plenty of other forums out there who already cater to this, and adding another one is not necessary.

Another reason is, like others here alredy stated, that current affairs are too laden with opinions and emotions - its hard enough to cope with that stuff regarding events sixty or a hundred years ago.

I doubt that the current bombings have anything to do with an excessive knowledge of history on part of the terrorists.You will find that the countries that suffered most from islamic terrorists in the last decades in regard to civil casualties are India and Algeria (if we count Sudan as a civil war).
