In most cases the seminal date for one set of nations would not mean much for others - for example you could choose 1601 for Britain and the accession of James VI as James I but what does this mean for Germany ? Or for the mainland you could choose the end of the Thirty Years War. But what does this mean for England ? Maybe the Seven Years War would tie everything in, and it involves most nations who would later feature in anything as well as colonial conflicts of major importance in India and North America
